Another week

Last week I thought that I would be doing my project by now, however I forgot that I need to do the Lab induction. Unfortunately, the lady who does it was quite busy, so I only had it on Friday. I feel like a lot of my classmates are so much further than me, while on the other hand they don’t think this way when we talk. I hope I will start it soon. I had a meeting with my supervisor last week and she keeps saying that I need to come up with a plan for the next 3,5 years. I don’t even know what I will be doing next week or month, so it’s quite hard to come up with something. I hope when I see her tomorrow she will give me something.

So far I was concentrating on reading literature and deciding on the topic for my literature review, which is due sometime in July. In addition, I need to write a proposal for beamtime and the deadline is in a week. I’m doing this together with my classmate and honestly, I don’t know how it will all work since we have no data. Of course we can use data which was published by hour supervisors, but it feels so strange to apply for something so serious at the beginning of the project. Well, maybe I am being pessimistic as always.

Also I finally got my access to Henry Moseley which is µCT imaging facilities and where all the computers are for image analysis. I will try to go there tomorrow to check some of the data from Diamond. I need to start playing with it and figuring out the new software. I’m sure it will be fun.

If tomorrow my meeting with the supervisor goes successfully and I get the plan for the next few weeks, I will write another post tomorrow. If not wish me luck. :D
