Still no lab work

Another week has passed, and I still haven’t done anything in the lab. On the other hand, I was at Henry Moseley analysing my scans from the last beamtime. We also managed to submit a proposal to get another beamtime, hopefully it will be accepted.

Last week I was invited to a Gatsby style end of the ear party of faculty of materials. I was invited 2 days before the party, so I went nuts in trying to get an outfit. After a few hours of searching for decent stuff that does not cost too much I came across a fancy dress shop near the food court in arndale. They have everything what you possibly could need and it’s also really cheap. So if you need something for a party with a dress code or Halloween I advise you go there first. Obviously you would need to leave in Manchester as well. :)

The party itself was really nice, especially the fact that I was with my supervisor and we had a lot of fun. At the end me and my boyfriend ended up having too many drinks so our Friday was totally ruined.

Yesterday (Saturday) we went out again with a guy and his wife whom I met on a train when going to Diamond. They turned out to be really nice and since we don’t have many friends in Manchester it was really nice to finally talk in our own language with someone else. Tomorrow we have invited them to play some board games, so I’m really excited as I love board games. On Tuesday I will start working on my literature review and I also will have a meeting with both of my supervisors, so I hope after that I will start working. Especially taking into account that at the end of May there is a conference in Edenborough to which I applied to make a poster and I have no data yet.
