A while ago I have wrote that I will be going on 2Cellos concert. The concert was held last Tuesday and it was awesome. I loved to see the guys play. However the trip didn’t go as smooth as I hoped. The concert was supposed to start at 18:00, so I googled how long it usually lasts (around 2 hours) and booked return tickets at 21:40. That’s taking into account that it will take us 40 min to get from Greenwich to Euston station. At 17:50 we were standing in a huge queue and I started to wonder what the heck was going on as the concert will start in 10 minutes and we are still outside. At 18:00, they let us in and I found out that the stage was outside on a field. That’s ok, as the weather was surprisingly lovely. There was no one on stage until 19:00, when a guy came out a said that we will have a warm up and 2cellos will perform later. I started to worry as the time was ticking. I asked one of the ladies who was helping to host the concert when 2Cellos will start performance and she said around 20:30!!! My jaw dropped as that would mean that we have around 10-20 minutes to listen the concert and we would have to leave. We started trying to change our tickets, but since they were booked at the train station we couldn’t change them over the phone and we were advised to go to the station where we bought them (MANCHESTER!!!). At the end we didn’t have many options so we had to buy another pair of tickets which were extremely expensive due to late booking. We stayed at the concert until 22:00 and left. I thought that they were about to finish but as it tunes out they performed until 23:00. Anyway, lesson learned.
Also apart from going to the concert we went to Tower or London. I wanted to go there since I moved to UK, but either didn’t have money or there was no discount. (its 25 pounds per person) This time I got 2for1 voucher on this website:
They have a lot of discounts on various attractions.
The Tower of London wasn’t as amazing as I hoped. Normally, I would expect to see some sort of recreation of how it looked before. However they predominantly had drawings and sometimes images in empty rooms. Few rooms had proper exhibits. Anyway, I enjoyed standing few centimeters away from local ravens. :)
Now Uni update. I have finished my literature review, now waiting for my supervisors to reply. Also I started looking for grants to go for Avizo training in Denmark. Unfortunately, most of them are either closed, or you need to apply 3 months in advance or you need to be member of particular society for a few years. So far I couldn’t find anything. If it comes to worst I will pay myself for the trip and will get last money from my travel grant allowance to pay for accommodation. Also I started looking into synchrotron data analysis. I was given advice on how to overcome limitations that I have. So I know what I need to do, but I have no idea how it can be done. To be honest I don’t have much experience in either Avizo, ImageJ and no experience in programming. Thus, so far i'm just googling stuff and can't find anything. I have a few ideas which I will test out tomorrow. I hope it will work, but it will be quite a laborious task as I can't write my own script.
