Almost a year has passed since I started my project and that means that soon I will have my first-year transfer viva and report submission. To be precise 15th of February is the deadline for the report and viva is supposed to be done by the end of March. As all students, me and most of cohort classmates are leaving report to the very last minute. To be honest I have started writing something before new year, but I’m extremely slow and constantly getting distracted. Now I decided that I want to straighten my teeth and spent too much time on appointments with orthodontists and watching YouTube reviews. At least I’m not playing PlayStation :) So as of yet I have 20 pages of text, so getting close to an end – its total 30 pages, I might even need to shorten my introduction as it’s supposed to be only 6 pages and mine is like 8 or 9. Also I need to finish it a bit earlier as I am going abroad to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday right before the report submission, so I need to start properly working. :) For viva, I have selected two people who will be assessing me and at the moment I’m not that scared, I probably will be when it gets closer to the date.

Apart from working on my report and being on YouTube last week I was kicked out from my lovely office. Me and another girl had a small office to ourselves and on Monday I went to double check with someone regarding the leak from the ceiling. To my surprise I was told that we are supposed to move out, well they tried to make it sound that we’re getting a favour since we will get a bigger office. But at the end of a day he said that’s it’s just some academic moving in to use our office as his own. The best part of this story is that we were given only 5 days to move out. It was already quite a busy week plus I got ill again, so moving was awesome. I literally moved everything plugged in the pc and left without sorting anything. Also, the office that we were offered is extremely cold and the only window that we have is frosted and cannot be opened so I said I can’t do without a window and found myself another office. I will be siting with another PhD student and a Post-Doc. They seem to be nice guys so hopping we will get along nicely. Also, I hope I won’t be moved anymore in the timeline of my PhD, as I just want to settle and not worry about anything. That’s all for this week. The upcoming week I will be doing some viral transfection of cells, so they express fluorescence proteins and it should be cool. :)
